Install POLAR
Get started with POLAR.
Install the Chrome extension for real-time attention tracking, or jump straight into the adaptive study planner with no install needed. Both are free with a POLAR account.
Install from the Chrome Web Store
One click install — no zip files, no Developer mode, no fuss.
Add POLAR to ChromeHow to install POLAR
- 1
Click “Add POLAR to Chrome” above. This opens the Chrome Web Store listing. Click the blue Add to Chrome button on that page.
- 2
Confirm the install. Chrome will show a permissions dialog. Click Add extension to confirm. POLAR will be added to your browser in seconds.
- 3
Pin POLAR to your toolbar. Click the puzzle-piece icon 🧩 in Chrome's top-right toolbar. Find POLAR in the list and click the pin icon next to it so it stays visible.
- 4
Sign in. Click the POLAR icon in your toolbar and sign in with your POLAR account. Don't have one? Create a free account — it only takes a moment.
- 5
Allow webcam access. The first time you start a study session Chrome will ask for webcam permission. Grant it — gaze tracking runs entirely on your device and no video is ever transmitted or stored.
Troubleshooting
- I don’t see the “Add to Chrome” button — Make sure you’re using Google Chrome (not Safari, Firefox, or Edge). The Web Store only installs to Chrome.
- POLAR doesn’t appear after installing — Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar — extensions are hidden there by default until you pin them.
- Sign-in isn’t working — Try disabling other extensions temporarily, then sign in again. If the issue persists, reinstall from the Web Store.
- Webcam permission was denied by mistake — Click the camera icon in Chrome’s address bar and set POLAR to “Allow”, then reload the page.
Use the study planner
The adaptive study planner lives entirely in the browser — no extension required. Upload your syllabus, set your exam dates, and get a personalized schedule. Free with any POLAR account.
